F1 Post: Kobayashi out, Sauber down

Kamui Kobayashi announced he has raised £6.5m but its not enough to "secure a seat with a competitive team" and will focus on acquiring a formula one seat for the year 2014. But this is massive news.. you could read about that anywhere. I want to talk about the impact that this may have on Sauber, and why the idiots at Lotus Renault chose to keep Grosjean on and not sign Kobayashi.

Sauber has now lost both of their hotshot drivers. With Perez now in McLaren (Post on why I think this is a mistake will come later) and Kamui giving up, sponsors must think why are we funding this team? Kobayashi and perez were exiting drivers and strictly form a sponsors side of view they got alot of tv coverage and thus more exposure for the companys brands on the car.

This year Sauber have signed The Hulk and rookie Gutierrez. Gutierrez I can understand, he excelled in the lower formulas and has been with the team since 2009. He's even Mexican for gods sake. Sauber is clearly looking for a replacement for Perez. but they also need an experienced driver to push the rookie (but still as exciting as kobayashi) and The hulk was definitely the wrong choice. Don't get me wrong I like Hulkenburg but Kobayashi made Sauber the midfield team to look out for and why go through the effort of signing a new driver and working with him untill hes settled in the team, kobayashi was already there Signed, sealed, deliverd. It is rather odd so perhaps sauber have an alterier motive but for the time being the decision just seems silly.

Now onto Lotus Renault, they cant have Kimi and another Speedy Gonzales, that would be too expensive for the company to maintain (mind you they did delay the decision to retain Grosjean until he promised to reduce the number of errors). So the team must look for a calm driver, someone to get lost in the midfield whilst the team focus on Kimi (not that he appreciates it!).
Once again this is a post of my opinions, don't take it seriously, if you do, do it in the comments down below.
