Albert park was harassed recently by the revs and screams of 22 formula 1 cars a few hours ago, yup 22 not 24, i hate to sound cocky... wait , i love sounding cocky, but i predicted the failure of HRT in preseason testing, but they still impressed me, i assumed they would be embarrassing, but no they failed to even quilify (didn't meet 107% rule).
McLaren seem to have a clear advantage in straight lines and the MercedesGP looks amazingly steady and stable, Red bull seem to be in Mclarens shoes last year because the car doesn't seem to have pace in qualy but race pace was good and Vettel gave Jenson a good run for his money...
The race saw Jenson shoot to an early lead and hold it to the checkered flag but not without difficulty, both Vettel and Hamilton were right behind him every step of the way. Lewis Hamilton started on pole but whilst his initial launch was good he had allot of wheel spin at the start allowing ol' Jenson to go through but Hamilton held second, it was only until a Safety car was deployed due to a Cateham car stopping on the pit straight that Hamiltons bad luck kicked in, or actually i should say moments before that.
Lewis had pitted early and without the safety car the strategy would have been fine but vettel/red bull decided to stay out, and whilst Lewis was out and had to join the safety car vettel dashed into the pits, slotting himself nicely into second.
Money bags Maldonado (ill learn to spell his name as soon as i care) surprised me with some very impressive driving, until he hit the wall and smashed his front right wheel and wing off, but before that there was nothing wrong with his driving. oh and the time he rammed into the side of grosjean and unbelievably the retards at sky F1 seemed to blame the Frenchman. ( i will rant about sky another time)
Romain Grosjean was dropped by Renault and he returned to GP2 where he seemed to have matured and won the championship and is now back, and back in style he qualified 3rd and despite a poor start his was driving sweetly until Richie rich hit his car (what do you think? moneybags or Richie rich?)
That is all for now but tis a short wait and only a week until the next race in Malaysia
