I am still writing the health and fitness post so look out for that it should hit your faces around next week ish
However, i realized i have had my Easy kart for a while and i am yet to tell you wonderful people what its like, I (like some of you out there now or planning to do so) started with a cheap TKM kart (still have it) that i bought with my friends, between the three of us we each own a 33.3% share of it, and whilst it was the most amazing project to strip, repaint and rebuild it, the chassis was from an old MS KART and a bit of a hand full in the corners, but if you can get you hands on an old race kart, rebuilding it is an amazing summer project (summer is coming up so save up three of four hundred pounds if you can and DO IT, there are plenty of old
style tkm's out there.... (REVIEW IS BELOW CLICK READ MORE)
But i digress and must return to this review, the Easykart runs the Birel RY30 chassis. Google Andy Cox Racing (main importer) for more info. And regulations dictate you must use neutral castor and camber, so the set up is fairly similar to TKM. You can however change (i will show you in a video i shall make when i have time) the following,
Front width
Tow(in/out)
Front ride height
Front Torsion bar
Rear width
Rear ride height
And of course Tyre pressure, now that looks like a lot when you put it like that but getting a comfortable set up didn't take me long.
Now it is often said Birel chassis are the most stable and easy to drive, and having driven the kart i must agree, everything feels stiff and solid and the chassis is very suited to drivers with a smoother driving style, that's not to say you have to be smooth, i'm more of a "throw it in deep and hope it sticks" kind of driver (please no innuendo jokes) and because of the stability the entry to the corner is sharp and the grip is delight full. now before i carry on i must say i drove the kart with a very poor set up at the start and i might as well have driven my old TKM, you need a comfortable set up to develop your skills and i have to recommend favoring a set up that has more grip towards the back but not a lot, so around 45% front and 55% rear.
Now as for the corner exit i must say it is very controllable but it does bog the engine down a bit if you take the corner too slowly, however this could also come down to gearing and what sprocket your running. i am very happy with the chassis and it is brilliant to drive and hopefully next year i plan to race in TKM so i will see if the chassis is competitive but initial signs are good.
I have split this into two parts and the next part shall be my review of the IAME Parilla engine but for today that shall be all, good bye
